Case Study

Silicone's Soul artwork for their last 2 albums has been created by 2FluidCreative to great success.

When Silicone Soul approached 2Fluid to create their much anticipated album 'Staring Into Space', it was to prove to be the beginning of a very fruitful and intuitive relationship.

Silicone Soul had achieved huge success after their massive dance anthem 'Right On, Right On' and wanted their long awaited new album to have the best artwork possible. They came to us with the idea that design should reflect space but wanted it to look quite retro as opposed to futuristic. They had a clear idea about how they wanted their name treated - it must look like the font style of TV sci-fi show 'Lost In Space'. So armed with the brief we set about creating a vintage looking album cover. We utilised ancient diagrams of space theory and astronomy offset by polaroids of the moon and a very modern space telescope. We explored the concept of looking to the past whilst always moving forward.

For their next album, 'Save Our Souls', Silicone Soul didn't really know what they were after but they had been inspired by medieval woodcuts depicting Faust and knew they wanted something that was quite dark with sinister undertones and lots of symbolism.

With our best Heironymous Bosch hats on, we decided to explore the theme of Redemption - that one man's heaven is another man's hell. We created a scene with human/animal hybrids, poisonous plants and esoteric symbolism. It's up to the viewer to decide whether this represents hellish debauchery or freedom from the shackles of commonly held ideas of sinful behaviour.

The result was darkly beautiful montage, rich in colour and depth that questions commonly held views of morality and sin.
